There is an Ancient One that pervades as Nada [inaudible cause of OM],
Inside the palatal cavity
He shows the Cosmic Light;

The Nada from Moon Sphere [pineal gland] arises,

From there it travels to the root of tongue,

And thence to throat the light goes,

And then to region of heart

Whence arises the articulate sound,

For all this,

The source is the Moon Sphere

In formless space rises Nada,

They traverse the spheres of sun and moon, pingala and ida, and see visions of past, present, and future. And in that full moon day the nectar, amrita, ripens. Until lowering into the external mind from kundalini heights, time stands still. 875

So normally the top of the skull is considered to be 1000 petals chakra - but in the oldest text - the Tamil of 5th Century - the top of the skull chakra is only 8 petals!!

Why? 8 petals is the new scale - the new "root tonic" - as the quantum subharmonic of the Moon Sphere - the Blue Music. 

And there in Nada you firm shall be

Your birth-cycle its end shall see.

 Here the moon stands for the Bindu Chakra
  it goes up to the Mandala (sphere) of the moon.

So the bindu is formed from food of the body - and we know from Daoist alchemy that the voice then transmits the jing energy.....

And so since alchemy starts and end with Lead - i.e. Jing energy - hence - NADA is the source of the cosmos.... And so once the top of the skull is opened up as the Moon Sphere - this, as the Bindu Chakra, causes the Nada of the Ether - Space (Brahma) to cause the jing energy to be restored and also to create light. I know since I achieved this for a few days in 2000 - I just didn't understand what had happened. haha.

Strangely that Ph.d. thesis only gives  a few hits for Nada - as sound - whereas the other translations give over 70 hits!!

so the Nadis (energy channels) are from Nada!!

 I guess it depends on how many "chapters" are being analyzed or translated....

Shiva dances while his consort sings the Vedas.

Since Shiva is Consciousness, the Vedas are consciousness in the form of Nada.

Turiya samadhi is the union of Nada and Bindu in the crown of the skull - the sahasrara. Nada dwelling there represents Shiva.

Nada is shakti and bindu is shiva.

In Sumerian times itself we see an early metaphysical attempt to understand the whole of cosmos as an INTELLIGENT reality and not simply a mindless physical system such as that of modern Astrophysics.  The whole of cosmos is a Person, the Purusha, the Sumerian NinGir-Su, the One who's huge FEET extends the whole of the cosmos. It is this line of thinking that led these early metaphysicians to inject the venomous VarNa distinctions with the claims that while the Brahmanahs emerged from the head, the warriors from the shoulders and the business men from the thighs the Sudras from the feet.

This FICTION has been and continues to be perpetuated by bulk of Sanskrit literature and the bulk of Brahmins continue to support  and sanction it by claiming that it is Veda Vak, sruti and therefore cannot but be a TRUTH.

Tirumular explodes this fallacy brilliantly in these two verses.

Purusha is Siva, the Sumerian EnSi, and the Lord of Sikaaram. At the feet are not Sudras but the processes of DESTRUCTION, the na-kaaram mantras  which battle and eliminate the evil forces within, and without which  one cannot RISE and enjoy the higher aesthetics and so forth, the pleasures of makaaram. . At the Head is AUM with sikaaram on the shoulders and vakaaram, the source of Vak at the mouth.

This Mantra understanding of the Saivites discloses the TRUTH that any one can ascend to higher and on reaching the head, the realms of AUM enjoy the moksa conferring Njaanam.

Destroyed with a brilliant stroke of metaphysical reaches through Mantrayana is VarNasrama Dharma. We have Tirumular giving a DEATH blow to the pernicious VarNasrama Dharma that has never been condoned at all by the Saivites by bringing out the TRUTH of metaphysical life

 It follows that True Saivism can be captured only by destroying VarNasrama Dharma, the cancer of the Hindu mind.

 Now Tirumular also notes that BEING is present in all forms i.e. with the all the mantra phonemes for in the function of every mantra complexes there is ILLUMINATING and hence destruction of Metaphysical Darkness, the Primordial and Uncreated Darkness that BLINDS the anmas and makes it impossible for them to SEE and LEARN.

Thus BEING also takes innumerable AVATARS but more to destroy IGNORANCE and only when sufficient metaphysical maturity has been attained that he shows His Essence and at which point the anmas are drawn naturally to the recitation Na-Ma-Si-Vaa-Ya and then Si-Vaa-Ya and then only to Om, the Logos.

 Tirumular returns to the binary realities of Natam and Bindu, the Siva and Sakti (the Yin and Yang) and links them with the hermeneutics of metaphysical illuminations. The A-U-M has m-phonemes akaaram and ukaaram and which are expressions of the encirculing Bindu and projecting Natam- the Bindu binding conserving and the cauldron of all energies and Natam as that which violates, breaks and sets into creative expression what remains only latent potentials within the womb of Bindu. Now akaaram and ukaaram can split and go ALONE making people either left hemispherical or right hemispherical.

Tirumular cautions against this and the movements of understanding separately, the Ida Kalai and PiGkalai movements remain BLIND to each other and hence partial, the ukaaram leading towards the irrational and  the mystical and akaaram leading to  mindless aggression and wanton destruction.

Both Natam and Bindu (the Man and Woman, Sivam and Sakti) must dance together in happy conjugation and unison and must move the metaphysical realms to remain physically and mentally healthy.

To be FREE of the physical and to be wholly engaged with the metaphysical one has to reach the Om and take that as the sole language.

the Single-Phoneme, the Logos Om that hovers over the metaphysical space forever shining forth as the Civanjanam, that which remains undying even if everything is withdrawn so that there is only Emptiness. This is Sat ARivu that which REDEEMS the soul and confers Moksa.

Now in contrast to Jainism and many religions that emphasized self-inflicted body tortures as the way to free the soul form the body, Tirmular here maintains that it is only the understanding of this Om that will enable the soul to FREE itself from its bondages to the body and hence to the sensorial and physical.

Tirumular discovers that the Primordial Logos Om spreads throughout the body giving the SPIRITUAL dimensions for the body and soul.

 The Asaba mantra itself is located in the vakaaram, that mantra between si-kaaram and ya-kaaram and which means it is the UNION of Natam and Bindu or what is the same the union of the metaphysical Sun and Moon, the Ravimati as the Siddhas would say.

Meaning:

There are the primordial Siva Tatvas underlying the genesis of Male and Female i.e. ParaNatam and ParaBindu. Now the KuNdalini pervading the metaphysical space also assumes the shapes of Sun Moon (and together with the shapes of other planetary bodies). Now when the Natam and Bindu that come together and becoming the SivaliGkam, conjoins the Moon, then and only then the Ambrosia oozes into the body. The mantras complexes that emerge there are actually the mantras of Soma Yaakam, those which allow the satisfaction of all desires.

Comments:

In this verse we have an EXPLICATION of the real meaning of one of the Yajnas of Vedic tradition, the Soma Yaakam also present in Sumerian times as the worship of Nanna Su'en, the Moon God and whose eldest daughter is In-anna herself, the creatrix of all.  While retaining the overall meaning of the myth, Tirumular re-appropriates it in terms of the language of mantras.

The mantra-complexes are those which differentiate the formless KuNdalini into the primordial Siva Tatvas ParaNatam and ParaBindu and conjoining which BEING gets differentiated into Sivam and Sakti- the Power or Energy  (Bindu, Sakti) and the Ordaining Principle (Natam, Sivam). Now when these two are together in union, they become the SivaliGkam with Natam as the Pillar and the  Bindu as the Peedam the foundation. Now Tirmular mentions that when this complex enters and unites with the MOON form KuNdalini, then we have the Amutu, the Ambrosia always there in the Metaphysical space, oozing into the body and which also brings about body renewal - the removing of the worn out body parts, cleansing of the body the deposits of old age and revitalizing the body system with psychic energy that brings about youthful vitality and virility. The heavenly BULL comes to live in the body allowing the person to live a youthful life again.

There are special mantras within the amutu that facilitates all these and Tirumular claims that this is the real meaning and significance of the very ancient Soma Yaakam that had its beginnings in the Nubian-Egyptian- Sumerian cultural complex and retained in the Vedic tradition.

 The Mantra-phonemes of Sun (Natam) and Longevity

The worship of the Inner Sun and Moon (and which has in some circles degenerated into the pseudo-science of Astrology) constitutes and central motive or theme of Tantrism which has its roots in the pyro cultures of the Nubian-Egyptian-Sumerian people as well as the Chinese and so forth. In the  verse above (961)  Tirumular explained what happens to the soul when fully saturated with Natam and Bindu (a Yin-Yang complex to full measure) conjoins the Metaphysical Moon, the Bindu- that it gets the Amutu, ambrosia ooze into the body.
