Next Marsyas [Pan] played and his music was completely different–it spoke to the longing of the weary herdsman coming home at sundown.

This is the Secret of the Great Mother - from Egypt as the Sun sets in the West so too does the Yuan Qi as the Great Mother White Tiger energy (the secret Air in the Water) manifest when yang peaks and yin reverses at 11 pm to 1 am. So too are some dreams "real" and the real man has to control his subconscious dreams from the Underworld. So too does the Great Mother as the Tiger control the Snakes or Dragon energy - the Fire goes Down into Earth as Sunset and so the yin energy begins to manifest as the subconscious Air in the Water. Only through meditation and deep breathing Pan Pitch Pipe trance music will the alchemy take place!! Only then can 8:12 turn into 9:6 as noncommutative phase ether energy - by reversing the Fire into Ground EArth as Water into Air!! And so the Water as Crocodile is turned into Dragon as Air, creating yin qi in the lower tan t'ien as the Cauldron or Sacred Golden Tripod of the Muses.

 But Apollo was not satisfied.  There are two versions of the story: in one he turned his lyre upside down and played it as well as ever (Marsyas, of course, could not do the same with the aulos).  In the other version, Apollo played the lyre and sang (also impossible with the aulos).  “I have two arts, whereas Marsyas has only one!” he proclaimed.   The muses halfheartedly assented: Apollo had officially won the contest.

 And so the LIE of the LYRE is now confirmed as alchemical mythology LIE - from the mathematical LIE of Philolaus flipping his Lyre around - whether it was upside down or around - let's see if we can find a different rendition.

 Sometimes it is the god Pan rather than Marsyas who competes with his Uncle Apollo.

The point being that now Apollo's Voice is based on the LIE of his Fire (Hades) intention being Evil since he does not turn his Light into the Earth - it is the equivalent of turning the Golden Tripod the Muses Upside Down by reversing backwards and forwards of the Lyre.

Is that going to change the tuning? If not then what's impressive about it? Jimi Hendrix played his guitar with his teeth but he didn't flip his guitar around (as far as I know - maybe he did?) If so the tuning would be changed. I think the REAL meaning is that Apollo flipped the TUNING around since that is the secret of what Philolaus did to overcome Pan and the Aulos pitch pipe alchemy of the Underworld.

So in Archaic Greece - the Lyre education was part of Hunting and Gymnastics as martial arts military training - with the Lyre accepted along with the Pitch Pan Pipes as alchemical shamanism. But with Apollo this gets flipped around by Philolaus and Archytas. The Gods literally get overthrown and the Logos gets turned into Ratio as in left brain "rational" repression of the right brain Kundalini Vagus nerve as trance alchemy of Mother Earth, Cosmic Mother Aion energy.

We learn these Mythologies as kids in school - maybe read Odysseus in 9th grade - as my niece is doing now - without realizing the alchemical secrets. Since I went to a Christian high school and middle school - based on the Trivium from the middle ages - then I read Odysseus in Latin - and so I knew there had to be some connection - I knew SUBCONSCIOUSLY  - they're had to be a connection between the Logos of the Book of John with the Logos of PreSocratic Greek Philosophy and I knew that connection was through music.

So Hermes is Mercury as alchemical Air and Hades is Fire but Fire is divided by Mercury Hermes into 12 parts while Hermes plays the alchemical Lyre.

Henricus Glareanus (1547) says that the original Lyre of Hermes had three strings, corresponding the three original Seasons of ancient Greece (Summer, Spring, Winter, from high to low). He says that Orpheus added the fourth string, corresponding to Autumn, when that Season was adopted from the East. Most sources, however, attribute the Four-String Lyre to Hermes.  What does this really mean? It means the East as in the birth of the Sun against the West as the DESCENT of the Sun as the SON has to descend into the Mother Earth through the golden Tripod of the Muses as alchemical INcubation training. Instead the Lyre was flipped around and changed in its tuning - so that as Plato taught - Air is to Fire (6:8) as Water is to Earth (9:12) and so now the Mind as Nous is to Fire as Sun - instead previously the Mind as Nous (fire) was to Water as Logos being REVERSED in direction (the flipping of the lyre around stopped this).

Originally Orpheus did descend into Hades to, alchemically, recover and rejuvenate the female energy Eurydice. Orpheus is then considered cognate, etymologically to the Rig Veda rbhu, as rghe, similar to the word "orphan." The original Rig Veda parallel has the father as an Archer, and Orpheus as a Cudgel-bearer, a common weapon carried with the bow, as secondary death blow. The cognate Rbhus are poet-artists with mental power but also connected to the chariot and sun god. Think of Anaximander - the pan pipes are also the chariot wheels of the sun, powered by the breathing fire of the Mother Goddess creating the light as the chariot sun. Since Orpheus, the priest of Apollo, neglects the descent into the Underworld via Dionysus, he is torn apart by the Goddesses but his head still sings at it floats down the river (Styx?). Orpheus is said to be etymologically related to Elf.

Maenads were possessed by Dionysus while in a similar fashion the Pythia was possessed by Apollo

In other words as I read from Hannah Arendt - the Secret meaning of Jim Nance or GymNansein is to Train the Mind by Turning Inwards - which means very literally to take the Fire as Spirit as 8 into Earth as 12 so that Water, the Logos is reversed in direction as Air or 9 to 6. Plato and Philolaus and Archytas "flipped" the Lyre around so now Apollo no longer needed to go into the Underground of Hades via Hermes.

So my question is now - was Orpheus an IndoEuropean Hittite god for the Phrygians? Is that what this is about?

The catgut strings of the lyre and the cowhide stretched across a drum's frame offer the same intimations of immortality.

So we know this is from Sumeria! The cowhide is the literally origin of the word God from the Divine Harp as the Lyre - with the 12 different cowhides as the Lunar Months of the Year based on the Lyre - the Moon-God Sin has the MOST lyre Balang shamanic singers - to control weather, for divination, healing and hunting success, etc. So this tradition of alchemy goes back to the Tiger and Dragon (crocodile water element) of Chinese alchemy of 5,000 BCE (grave archaeology evidence) with the - what ....

widespread tiger images on Shang bronze offerings vessels may have been associated with the western mu deity, an association of tiger and west that goes back to the neolithic. [Cahill, 12-13] The tomb art of this province shows the goddess of transcendence seated in majesty on a dragon and tiger throne. [Liu, 40-3] This magical pair goes back to the Banpo neolithic, circa 5000 BCE, where they flank a burial at Xishuipo,  Henan. [Rawson, 244] Tiger and dragon represented yin and yang before the familiar Tai Ji symbol came into use during the middle ages.

 So what did I just quote about the flipping of the Lyre - for alchemical Pitch Pipe Pan training - the Solar Fire needs to descend into the Earth via the sacred Tripod as Incubation Womb-Tomb cave meditation....deep breathing and visualization and listening - .....

 That string was adopted from the East from Orpheus - while the Tiger is the West as the Underworld secret of turning Apollo into Hermes as Mercury Aion kundalini from Water through Apollo going into Hades (the underworld or Lower Tan t'ien - the Kunda as secret of Kundalini from visualizing fire in the Sacrum - which is literally the hole in the EArth that holds the Fire).

All this alchemical training got LOST when Philolaus and Apollo FLIPPED the lyre around and sang as a LIE - since now their spirit does not have the subconscious Intention raised - and so the frequency of their spirit is actually the Secret Fire that powers the spirit and is the secret spacetime blue-light shifting of the Spirit as true Lunar-Ether psychic energy. Without that secret alchemical training then their Intention is their Spirit subconsciously stuck and Separated from their Earth - the separation of Heaven and earth means the Fire has now been put into earth to turn the water into air - which raises the frequency of the Spirit from subconscious Red as Hades Hell on Earth into Blue as Heaven on Earth via a Real Man.

At daybreak Hermes fed the cows well and found a shelter for them. Then he gathered some wood and was the very first to use dry sticks and by friction kindle a fire. He skinned and butchered two of the cattle (baby though he was) and divided rich parts of the meat into twelve portions, which he ...

 So Hermes with his alchemical Lyre as Mercurial Air (the secret Metal of the Lungs as alchemical Bellows) turns the Lunar 12 months into the Ether as Air - the Lunar Month was the original God as the Cow Goddess.

In ancient Greek practice, the Plektrum was stroked toward the body, which is toward the lower-pitched, but higher-positioned strings (in the ancient manner of holding the lyre). In this way the Power of Apollo is drawn down into greater manifestation (Fire, Air, Water, Earth), which is the Sunwise motion from East to West. (Anderson 176)

 So clearly when it's stated the fourth string is added from the East - this is quite literal. The fourth string IS the origin of the East.

And so to "flip" the Lyre around does change the tuning depending on how the Lyre is held. It's ambiguous.

The "top" of the Lyre is the highest string - as the Sun moving from Summer into Winter.... from east into west (on the south side)....Which is to say - this DOES go back to ancient pre-10,000 BCE Africa:

The oldest lyres found were in Ur, in modern day Iraq, and date to 2500 BC. Moreover, historians disagree about its provenance, believing it to hail from North Africa – it was especially popular in Egypt – Western Asia or Southern Europe. Indeed, the lyre is still used in countries like Chad and Sudan, at Islamic celebrations and animist ceremonies.

 O.K. so in Egypt it was first a Harp and then West Asia (Hyksos or Hittite) introduced the Lyre (along with monotheism).....around 1800 BCE with the chariot invasion.

And so with the Harp - the tuning is flipped around! The Lowest Pitch (longest string) is farthest away from the Body - while for Apollo - the lowest pitch is closeted - so that Air is to Fire as Water is to  Earth - instead of the true alchemy of Fire is to Earth as Water is to Air.

So why the confusion? Just as with the Origin myth of Pythagoras using Anvils of different sizes - and then switching to weights on a string - no one is sure if the string length (inverse proportion) or the weights (inverse square)  is the truth.

Now with Apollo and the Pan pitch pipe contest of the Aulos (double pipe) - we have a Flipping of the Lyre by Philolaus that REVERSES the direction of Alchemy into geometric magnitude, thereby BANISHING Pan as Hades into the Subconscious Underworld - so that Logos is no longer alchemical Water turned into Kundalini Aion but now Logos is Nous as Air (dried out left brain reason, not powered by Kundalini - causing the whithered face without the collagen ionized).

Although there may be dissension, the lyre and cithara were in early days the same instrument

 And so we have a REVERSE version of the Story -

" Midas, Mygdonian king, son of the Mother goddess from Timolus was taken as judge at the time when Apollo contested with Marsyas, or Pan, on the pipes. When Timolus gave the victory to Apollo, Midas said it should rather have been given to Marsyas. Then Apollo angrily said to Midas: 'You will have ears to match the mind you have in judging,' and with these words he caused him to have ass's ears."

And so Midas - turning everything to Gold - represents REAL alchemy of the Mother Goddess!!

Which further Confirms that this story of flipping the Lyre around is really about Changing the TUNING of the Lyre from real alchemy into the geometric Mean "reason" of irrational magnitude.

So here is my final question. We are told he puts the Turtle Shell Under his Chin - and this is how he flips the Lyre upside down. Clearly from this photo you can see that this REVERSES the direction of the strings thereby corroborating my claim that this myth is about the secret tuning that Philolaus reveals as the basis for establishing Irrational Magnitude.

Now if you flip the lyre around and reverse infinity - this is o.k. as long as you still recognize the Sound-Ether or Bindu Chakra as the source of infinity based on complementary opposites. Meaning the 12 "sacrifices" of Hermes after stealing the cows from Apollo - this is the zodical 12 cow-hides based on the lunar sacrifice from Sumeria. As in India Kriya Yoga - you CAN reverse the direction from going up the front and down the back - AS LONG AS you keep the mind focused on the Bindu  Chakra as the Ether source - the Formless Awareness source of the energy. Or as qigong master Jim Nance says - keep your mind's perspective turned around to its Awareness in the back of the brain.

So here is Pan with the Pan Pipe Aulos that Midras knew how to Turn to Gold energy from the Mother Goddess - with the Staff (kundalini) and Pine Cone as the Third eye.

Just as I suspected!!

The first three chapters endeavor to demonstrate that several instances in Greek myth and religion show traces of such an erstwhile connection between Orpheus and bovines. The instances in question are 1. a variety of contexts pertaining to the myth of Dionysus' infanticide and subsequent rebirth, which apparently possessed special relevance in Orphic milieux, 2. the narrative of Hermes' invention of the lyre, which appears to possess affinities with Orphic mythology and ideology, and 3. the events that occur during Orpheus' contest with the Sirens in the Argonautic narrative. The fourth and final chapter applies comparative evidence from Vedic India to Virgil's amalgamation of Orpheus and the bougonia. Operating within the framework of Indo-European methodology, the author submits that the Rig Veda's references to the supernatural activities involving a cow accomplished by the Rbhus, whose appellation is arguably cognate with ̥ Orpheus' name, comprises the Indic equivalent of Virgil's Orpheus-bougonia complex. This comparandum indicates that the tradition putatively providing the basis of Virgil's epyllion was one inherited by the Greeks from Indo-European tradition. The author's position is that an awareness of the traditional foundation of Virgil's epyllion both increases our understanding of how the Orpheus-bougonia complex reflects Orphic ideology and enhances our appreciation of the ways in which Virgil appears to have adapted the tradition on which his variations depend.

 All this shows that proto-Indo-European was formed in Eastern Anatolia, in the vicinity of the Semites and Caucasians. o.k.

So that's just the linguistic evidence but the Chariot evidence says the SAME - Armenia!
So chariots spread from Armenia up north and further west, etc.

A prominent genetics study into the Indo-European homeland (Haak et. al, 2015) confirmed the possibility for such a scenario:

So this PROVES definitely that the ancient Mother Goddess culture was from BEFORE the Indo-European Chariot invasion that created Mycenaean Greeks.

Considering that some of the oldest traces of the Neolithic Revolution are found on the Armenian Plateau in the eastern parts of Anatolia, it is safe to say that the invention of farming spread to western Anatolia and later further into Europe including Greece from the Armenian Plateau.

There are also signs of conflict. The intruders differed from the continent’s Ice Age inhabitants because of their different genetic lines. In other words, the two groups did not intermingle.

 It is clear, however, that the dairy farmers won out in the end. During their migration, they encountered increasingly lush pastures, a paradise for their cows. An added benefit of migrating farther to the north was that raw milk lasted longer in the cooler climate.

They are attested in the eastern Tarim Basin and Anatolian Plateau regions at the very end of the third or beginning of the second millennium BC and in the nineteenth century BC, respectively. The Proto-Indo-Europeans are known to have had wagons, but the first wave seems to have left the proximal homeland either before the war chariot per se was developed, or before the Indo-Europeans had learned how to use chariots for war.

And so ISIS was originally the Snake Goddess.

While we are tracing names, Q're (or Qure), the maiden aspect of Al'Lut, seems certain to be the origin of the Greek Kore. Camphausen suggests that the holy Koran (qur'an in Arabic) is the 'Word of Qure'. Even moslems admit that the work existed before the time of Mohammed. Legend said it was copied form a divine prototype that appeared in heaven at the beginning of time, or the Mother of the Book [8]. Al'Uzza, the mother aspect of Al'Lut, may give us the pre-dynastic Egyptian snake goddess Ua Zit, who develops into Isis.
