This vision of scientist-activists is naive at best - 50% of physics is for the military. Corporations dominant science research money - for example at University of MInnesota at least 300 corporations "donate" a tax-deduction and in turn get free research facilities, free researchers, control over the direction of the research, etc. all under the guise of "public" science. And students wonder why tuition is so high? If professors point out this corporate control of science they get fired - like Lawrence Soley did. And this has always been the case for science - Galileo got funded because he convinced the aristocrats that he could lower labor costs. Professor David F. Noble exposed science as a "religion of technology." Paul Beckwith follows this religion - with his hope of some techno-fix. But even a supercomputer could not model the Amazon rainforest - and quantum biology is not based on reproducible "off the shelf" standardized technology - which is the epitome of "reality" for many scientists. If it has not been proven by science then it doesn't exist. haha. Oh well - I pointed this out to my University fellow-students back in the early 1990s at UW-Madison - we already have enough "research" - what we need now is activism for policy changes!! But activism for policy changes does not pay for University tuition does it? haha.

Best not to think too deeply about the mathematics that science is based on or the inherent "externalities" of the wrong logic (and the subsequent technology based on that impure logic) be revealed. Mathematicians will admit this if you scrutinize them. Our technology is apocalyptic - and so the "One Climate" t.v. show out of San Francisco - patronizingly asked the "activist" scientists - Union of Concerned Scientists - how supposed progressives can be against genetic engineering based on false harms when we need science to stop global warming! Oh this "Union of Concerned Scientist" was very gently about this question - lest he upset the aristocratic funders! Brewster Kneen of Canada has not been so soft-stepping around this corporate junk science promoting genetic engineering. Neither was Dr. Mae-Wan Ho and I personally exposed a University of Minnesota administrator bragging that for enough money they would gave Monsanto tomatoes the size of basketballs. haha. Science is a joke - sure it's a main mythology of our time. We HAVE to believe in science - and like deer in the headlights - science will scrutinize each moment as time is accelerated to a zero point of the irrational continuum of space on Earth.
