Yes, but electronic media mimics right-brain functions, as such they (telegraph, radio, TV, internet) create externalized right-brain type environments which we've been inhabiting for almost 200 years now. Nietzsche's aphoristic type knowledge and Picasso's cubism also reflect the shift in sensory arrangements caused by the new media. Transsexual identity flux is another more comical example of the affects electronic media have on the psyche lol.
The affects are total and run right across every institution in fact, but what's really funny is academia has bet the house on left-brain axiomatic principles being true. All that means is the world is drifting away from them at increasing speeds, everything is becoming weirder and weirder for all those morons because media are not created equal. There's a logic to the new media which so far has accelerated reality successively away from mechanised thinking patterns.
Honestly I post in philosophy forums and all they can do is ban me even when I spell things out for them using philosophy from the Western tradition. If they actually realised the truth of reality they'd very likely go insane, not that they aren't absolutely insane already tbh.
This insight he describes of the right-brain machine post-modern consciousness taking over is very apt - what people increasingly call the Matrix (meaning the interwebs, smart phones, cable t.v., etc.).
I just got back from the wetland-forest - and consistently when I sleep in a tent, away from civilized hard-wiring of electromagnetic pollution - my dreams are much more vivid. Also I notice my right brain function much stronger. This means the "ear worms" from say pop music on the radio and its subconscious meaning - described in the book I cite, "The Haunting Melody" about how music is the secret gateway that reveals our subconscious at the present waking moment, when we recall the words of songs that are stuck in our heads or pop into our heads.

You know the kind you get trendy lab science jobs to study the dopamine neurons of schizoid types for the N.I.H., etc. haha.
So how come I have not referred to Jean Gebser as Aletheia wonders? I discuss Ken Wilber in my master's thesis and Ken Wilber relies on Jean Gebser a lot. But I critiqued Ken Wilber as being racist. Similarly the primordialist or traditionalist worldview - like Rene Guenon - who the ideologue ring-master puppet of the Robert Mercer wingnut billionaire - Steven Bannon secretly follows (Rene Guenon) - there is a kind of "evolutionary" view of human society - as cycles or aristocratic classes. Basically this is from the "divide and average" caste system of Vedic or Zoroastrian cosmology.
So Aletheia wonders about how beyond the dream state is something that is beyond the soul even - and this is from Vedic philosophy, Turiya as the fourth state of awareness that is impersonal formless awareness as the Emptiness. So the primordialist traditionalists - to what extent do they talk about the Lower Tan T'ien?
What Ramana Maharshi teaches is that formless awareness is achieved through a secret pinhole on the right side of the heart. This is actually the right vagus nerve beyond death. Ramana Maharshi had his heart stop for 15 minutes or 10 minutes and then felt a shock from the right over to the left side of the heart, causing his personal spirit ego awareness to return. So the formless awareness is actually this "shock" or prana or qi energy that is actually reverse spacetime energy - the hidden momentum of light.
I was given this experience by the qigong master who befriended me. I felt the shock deep on the right side of the heart. I was shocked into silence by the experience and then he said, "I just wanted to see if you were speaking from your heart and you were."
So that refers to the deep level of enlightenment and this qigong master even told me that he would need to rebuild his lower tan t'ien energy again if he was going to be able to stand in horse stance with thighs parallel to the ground for 2 hours a day - like he had done in his original training.
So in other words - another example is he told me he no longer had to be concerned about drinking ice water - at the level he was now at. Whereas when he asked me to meet him in a restaurant in 2005 - and the waitress brought ice water - he was very adamant that he could not have ice water.
So I was looking for this one philosophy religious professor who used to promote primordialism. I thought his name was Hugh E. Smith - but oh wait I think it's Huston. Huston Smith.
Anyway - this other Swiss philosopher, like Jean Gebser, has built on this work - Harold Wallach.

So my point is that Jean Gebser is relating to cultural or societal levels of spiritual much like the psychologist Jean Piaget whom Ken Wilber relied on, and I critiqued as being racist. But in fact, as Gurdjieff points out, a la Mahayana Buddhism (read Master Nan, Huai-jin) - these "levels of emptiness" based on different "levels of consciousness" are found in each individual.
So there is a "sudden enlightenment" experience - and this is what the Shen healing or shaktipat transmission does - from the spiritual Emptiness beyond death - this is what Poonjaji used to do. But once he did it too strong so a young male was running around for 3 days claiming he was Jesus! So the original qigong master was working to open my third eye after I had fasted and meditated for 7 days nonstop - just a half glass of water. The shen energy feels like and is a holographic laser energy that burns the brain! I posted on how this can cause damage if too strong and he later told me my "mind was not quite ready yet."
Similarly in the San Bushmen original human culture it takes decades to train to be a master healer and so the younger apprentices run around in shock from the N/om energy going up into the brain. The teachers have to calm down the younger males and then not until they are in the 40s do the males become master healers.
And so what he later described in 2015 is how it is very common for once the third eye is opened to then overuse the psychic energy and so then burn out the lower tan tien energy. Then the foundation has to be completely rebuilt again. This is the stage I am at, so I have to rely on food to rebuild the jing energy - or else meditate alone - and I keep doing psychic energy healing - or psychic exorcisms.
So then the qigong master who befriended me said I needed to do 2 hours of "moving of yin and yang" a day - more like the real horse stance though - to rebuild my jing energy. Or like Master Wang, Liping says, 6 hours of full lotus meditation every day without missing a day for one year - to restore the Yuan Jing energy.
So this is why in the Old Skool kungfu movies they go off into the forest to train - just the student and the teacher in a hut - growing potatoes for food or eating fish or eating eggs, while training. Or else they train at a monastery or do cave meditation.
I published an early pamphlet soon after my "enlightenment experience" as the original qigong master called it - I cited Sri Yukteswar and Vivekananda both admitting that real spiritual training can not be achieved through technology.
This "technology" even includes writing and reading! As the qigong master who befriended me stated - reading is basically learning what you don't need to know. Which is another way of stating the inherent limitation of left-brain dominance, revealed by the science of the fact that the left vagus nerve does not connect to the right brain, whereas the right vagus nerve connects to the left brain!
So I'm reading this B.A. Thesis, "Towards Transmodernism" that reveals how the Matrix Trilogy was based on Ken Wilber's philosophy. Fascinating.
And so the idea is somehow using machine technology - i.e. cyberpunk "hacking" - implants into the brain, etc. then spiritual "evolution" can be achieved. We can immediately think of the counterculture online - when Neo has someone refer to mescaline - or now the trendy use of DMT-based plant medicine - as Hollywood star Ellen Page "qualifies" her DMT comparison to Flatlining as an NDE ("I don't do drugs."). haha.
But as I pointed out with DMT-based plant medicine - it is still an external electrochemical agent that acts on the body-mind, whereas the qi energy itself, as a magnetized pineal gland (that emits the Yuan Qi from the heart) is actually stronger than the electrochemical plant medicine. So for most people they take the DMT-based plant medicine and it's "goodbye to Kansas" (to quote the Matrix reference to Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz). But in actuality what is happening is the person's subconscious is made manifest to them in a waking dream state and takes over for them - and so they see their subconscious projected holographically or as a spiritual awareness state - and the person is then controlled or guided by their subconscious. Again most of the time the person does not realize it is their subconscious.
Similarly when Poonjaji, as a youth, is playing with the actual Gods of India - as manifested yang shen spirits - and so Poonjaji travels around India asking Gurus to show him God (thereby to recreate his experience of youth) - it is ONLY Ramana Maharshi who says - you can't see God - God is formless awareness. And this is after Ramana Maharshi had appeared to Poonjaji already as a yang shen being earlier. In other words - even in the Purusha state of highest Yang Shen holographic physical being golden body immortality - the "highest" astral state of heaven - it is still a projection of the subconscious of the spiritual ego.
But to state this is the direction of humanity as a whole disregards the very subtle and yet very specific training involved in the process. To project such training onto our postmodern cyberpunk reality - in its post-apocalyptic stage of humanity - is to commodify and fetishize spiritual training as a whole. This is the great tragedy of the technological mass mind control - what I call the "trajectory of tantric technology." For example the original qigong master was not able to heal his own wife because he said she had too much anger in her heart and she would not listen to him, since he was the husband. Kind of like how a doctor can not treat his own family.
In other words for the technofeminist the reliance on technology to save humanity goes all the way back to female chimpanzees relying on spears to hunt meat, so the females are not raped by the males. It does not address the root cause of the problem - and so the original qigong master said he does not practice tantra as it requires taking in the female's energy which is a low frequency blockage. Instead he just gets his energy from the Emptiness itself. This was the subject of Michael Winn's comparison of Daoism and his training in India - wherein he revealed that even the supposed celibate yogi had to rely on having young females to massage his back - as his way of recharging his jing energy. Similarly the San Bushmen reveal how the young nubile maidens have the strongest N/om energy that they sing into the males.
But it is the requirement of the males do raise the frequency of the energy through the "moving of yin and yang" or trance dance training based on complementary opposites. And this is the secret that is still ignored in the primordialist or integralist traditionalist philosophy. For example it is not just right brain or left brain but also right hand and left hand and upper body and lower body and right ear and left ear and right eye and left eye!
And so this is the "original" training from the San Bushmen - and it is modeled by the "three gunas" of India and the Taoist philosophy and it is from nonwestern music theory - and it is this secret of noncommutative phase that is lost by the Integralist philosophy.
What Ramana Maharshi states is that for most of us sleeping is still a state of ignorance - whereas in enlightenment - we go into the 4th state during sleep - Turiya - just as the Shaolin Master Haideng did not sleep for 60 years! He spent all night in full lotus meditation. So then in Turiya what happens is with each breath the mind empties out beyond death via the right side of the heart. It is just that the Integral tradition still fetishizes the left-brain philosophy approach - called Jnana - of Ramana Maharshi which is based on the caste system of the Brahmin priests (even if eye contact with a female then 3 days of purification is required!).
The end of the Matrix then is the realization that "even the machines are made of light" and everything arises out of the Emptiness/Oneness. Similarly the original qigong master says to do "car feng shui" since then your car will be very happy: To clean the car out. My response to this is that the best way to clean the car is to attach a tube from the exhaust pipe to go back in the car and then sit in the car and see how long it takes for the car to get clean. haha. It's a joke - but the point being that you could take a big shit all over the car and it still would be cleaner than the exhaust fumes that have heavy metal pollution, etc. But that is the postmodern qigong revolution response as a globalized commodified late capitalist spiritual healing business - we can do Feng Shui not just on our cars but on fancy high rise business offices, etc.
In other words, an individual can achieve the highest state of enlightenment but that does not mean that the planet as a whole is going to achieve some kind of Matrix freedom, etc. Even if such a person believes it is possible for the planet as whole - as Sri Aurobindo taught, etc.
The fact is that our modern technology inherently goes against the original training philosophy of complementary opposites. Quantum biology shows this through noncommutative phase resonance but quantum biology can not be "reproduced" through technology. We, being alive, are amazing marvels of the "highest technology of all technologies" as qigong master Yan Xin described it. And so no wonder Yan Xin has gone "underground."
