When I finished a self-designed interdisciplinary M.A. in Liberal Studies, focused on "music theory, radical ecology and sound-current nondualism" at the University of Minnesota in 2000, I did self-directed research in nonwestern applied mind-body meditation transformation. My justification was nonwestern music theory from the Pythagorean philosophy steeped in Egyptian and West Asian tonalities, with amazing similarity to Taoist and Samkhya philosophy as well. It was not until I discovered Dr. Victor Grauer's blogbook, Sounding the Depths, did I realize that the original human culture had preserved a psychophysiological music training for spiritual healing energy, from before human language had even crystallized. Anthropologist Dr. Elizabeth Marshall Thomas revealed in an online podcast interview, how a musicologist had documented the same oldest human ritual, the Eland Bull dance, from tribes with the oldest languages already slightly differentiated. Yet the tribes had been separated since their original demarcation of language, demonstrating that the spiritual music training was common to the original human culture before human language began to be differentiated.
"There are things about the antiquity of the Bushmen’s culture that we didn't know. A musicologist found very important music which was used at a woman's first menarche called ‘elan music’ (honoring the fat-rich antelope). This ‘elan music’ was also present in other language groups of other Bushmen language groups and also the noun-less speakers who are not exactly Bushmen but they're related. This means that way back before these groups diverged, somebody invented or composed (this) music and then they took it with them."

As music theory Leonard B. Meyer noted, almost all cultures use the 1-4-5 music intervals, the basis for the original human culture music as well. More recently Dr. Daniel Levitin is somewhat reluctant to recognize that all human cultures use the 1-4-5 music intervals. Certainly Western music tuning has changed from the natural harmonics of the Perfect Fifths and Perfect Fourths to the "compromised" logarithmic-based equal-tempered fourth and fifth music intervals. But as Sir James Jeans in his classic Science and Music book noted, it is the natural harmonic Perfect Fifths that create an infinite spiral of frequencies, thereby ending any notions of simplicity. In other words when the Western music tuning system was developed, the empirically true rational number-based harmonics were lost.

Of course this story of the connection between Western math and Western music is at least well-known in its general sense. Most books on the mathematics of music will note that the square root of two originated from the major 2nd music interval, 9/8, derived from the Perfect Fifth being squared and halved into the same octave, and then cubed to the tritone, as the generally considered dissonant "Devil's Interval." But what is less well-known mathematically is that the original non-Western and empirically true tuning is what mathematician Professor Alain Connes calls the simplest example of a "universal scaling system" that models his noncommutative geometry, what he calls the "Quantum Music of the Spheres" to unify general relativity and quantum mechanics.

This seems quite astonishing at first and even Alain Connes dismisses this empirical truth of the nonwestern music tuning, as his favorite composer is Chopin, someone Connes performs while practicing the piano. Connes, argues, that the future of quantum technology is best modeled by Western orchestration, where multiple spacetime clefs or voices in the brain, would have to be transposed simultaneously. Any of us who have done orchestration training at the piano know this is very much a brain exercising process. But what Connes fails to realize is that the nonwestern tuning, based on the noncommutative resonance of 2 and 3, that he acknowledges is a "universal scaling system" to unify quantum mechanics and general relativity, this music seemingly boring, repetitive and simplistic, by our Western-biased "sophistication," in fact was recognized for its secret sustainable power from the beginning of human biologically-modern culture itself.

And so in terms of music theory, it is math professor LuigiBorzacchini who, in 2007, had his research published on the secret musicorigins of the Western "Greek Miracle" of incommensurability – acover-up by Plato and Archytas that Borzacchini called "really astonishing"and "shocking." As Borzacchini has acknowledged it is only professional mathematicians who admit that the original paradoxes of time and magnitude, via Zeno, have in fact not been solved, only transferred to Set Theory, etc. Borzacchini, while embracing the results of these paradoxes, that he calls Plato's Computer, nevertheless admits there is a "pre-established deep disharmony" that secretly is the guiding "evolutive principle" of Western science.

It is difficult for mainstream science to come to terms with this esoteric realm of music theory and mathematics and the profound implications for sustainability and applied science. Of course most scientists accept, for example, the reality of Pythagorean's Theorem, learned by 10th grade geometry class, and from there continue in their training, not questioning nor even knowing about the secret music origins of Western mathematics. Nor are they aware of how nonwestern music theory, being noncommutative, exactly enables this unification or possible unification, according to Alain Connes, of the highly disparate theories of general relativity and quantum mechanics.

But in terms of music theory we can at least study how this cover-up occurred. For example most math is based on symmetric and commutative principles but it is not until quantum mechanics became the new foundation of science that the noncommutative principle returned as the foundation of empirical reality. Ironically this noncommutative foundation was covered up at the origins of the Greek Miracle, as Alain Connes noted, with the creation of the equal-tempered music scale, starting out with Platonic math from Archytas' music analysis. Archytas deferred to Babylonian math to argue for a new "harmonic mean" instead of the "subcontrary mean:" Based on the "harmonic mean" as the Perfect Fourth, then the "arithmetic mean multiplied by the harmonic mean equals the geometric mean squared."
However, he [Archytas] noted that the product of the arithmetic mean and the harmonic mean is equal to the square of the geometric mean, so this gave a way of dividing the fifth of 3:2 into the product of 5:4 and 6:5.

 As Professor Borzacchini points out, Archytas actually favored "logistics" or the Logos, over geometry, and so it is only due to the "cognitive bias" of Western science that this music origin of Western irrational numbers has been covered up – what he questions as possibly the "secret of the sect?" Similarly economist and history professor Michael E. Hudson has documented how it was Archytas who promoted the irrational square root of two, as a new music theory model of logarithmic-based unequal distribution of wealth – in other words the music model became the argument for an inherent "social harmony" philosophy of economic unsustainable wealth distribution.

So for Archytas what had to be covered up was the empirical truth that the subcontrary mean is actually the Perfect Fifth as the subharmonic or undertone. Using the common C-F-G model of geometry then C to F, as the subharmonic is the Perfect Fifth or 2:3 ratio but this empirical truth had to be denied and covered up, so that the equation from Babylon could be realized: Only by doubling to 4/3 could then this ratio be converted to the harmonic mean as the Perfect Fourth. Musicologists have dubbed this the "phantom tonic" since it actually changes the value of the original "home tone." That is the noncommutative geometric truth was covered up : F=3=G at the same time. This is due to the inherent noncommutative phase-space as the origin of quantum entanglement.
 Instead, the creation process says that each particle has both positive and negative angular momenta at the same time.
As physicist Fred Alan Wolf states, "The amplitude of a wave measures its strength. The phase of the wave determines its rhythmic relationship with all other waves. When waves in phase add together coherently they form a single wave with dramatic strength." (p. 143, Space Time and Beyond).

This empirical truth is deceptively simple and yet the logic is profound. Astrophysicist Paul S. Wesson calls it the Fifth Dimension that is "time-like" and can only be logically inferred or what other physicists call noncommutative phase-space. In musicology for example it is now proven that the quantum linear operative of time-frequency uncertainty or Fourier Uncertainty is surpassed by the nonlinear means of phase reversal during human auditory perception. So ironically as the Fourier Uncertainty limit is surpassed by as much as ten times beyond what technology is capable of doing, the human ear perceives the "home tone" to be phase-transferred into the Perfect Fifth music interval.

As biophysicist Vitus B. Droscher points out in his classic, Magic of the Senses even though the Fourier transform shows a change in amplitude and frequency from the phase shift of the octave and 3rd harmonic, the human ear hears no difference in amplitude and frequency. And so empirically because the limit of Fourier Uncertainty is transcended, in fact it is the apparently boring repetitive chanting or mantras of nonwestern trance music that in fact enables a transduction of time-frequency into the infinite spiral of formless awareness.

Science now documents that the highest frequency we can hear externally in fact resonates the quantum consciousness of the brain via the ultrasound resonance of the mind-body collagen. So for example in the study of tinnitus when an ultrasound beam is aimed at the center of the brain, the brain demodulates the ultrasound into a high pitch ringing sound. But the same scientists note that this process can be reversed, with less energy required, by simply using the same high pitch external sound, the brain resonates at ultrasound. Called the "hypersonic effect" it is now documented that natural harmonic nonwestern tuning, for example Gamelan nonlinear sound using gongs, then creates increased serotonin alpha brain waves from the ultrasound frequencies. Dr. Stuart Hameroff even tested ultrasound resonance of his collagen, noting the increased bliss from the increased serotonin alpha brain waves.

Skulachev has suggested that fused mitochondria could act as ‘power cables’ [67]; it is thus interesting that Reynaud has shown that mitochondria can be made to fuse using electric fields in vitro [68]. This would be in keeping with the ideas of Fröhlich about energy transfer involving vibronic coupling, in particular, between mitochondria and microtubules [69].

Hence, both calorie restriction and increased metabolic demand would generate an adaptive response (hormetic trigger) to improve mitochondrial function. As the mitochondrial potential is restored, and mitochondrial mass and/or efficiency increased, quantum tunnelling would become more efficient and ATP levels re-established and ROS minimized.

This of course suggests a very tight relationship between mitochondrial function, quantum efficiency, inflammation and aging.

In summary, the central precept for this paper is that humans evolved in a quantum universe and that quantum effects are pivotal for optimal function.

It is CIA mind control scientist Dr. Andrija Puharich who discovered and postulated that the ultrasound actually activates the parasympathetic nervous system via the vagus nerve, causing neurotransmitters to have strong hydrogen side bands from the splitting of water – what he calls the Phonon-Hydron Effect. So the sidebands are in the ELF frequency range that resonates with the Schumann Earth ELF standing wave frequency, a thousand times greater than the electromagnetic energy of the typical human heart. Dr. Michael Persinger has continued this research of Dr. Puharich, arguing it is this standing wave effect that enables telepathy, and other paranormal abilities in humans, just as Dr. Puharich and other scientists have documented. For example energy healers have routinely been documented to emit infrasound ELF electromagnetic energy waves a thousand times greater than the typical heart electromagnetic wave.

At the same time, as Dr. Puharich noted, this internal sound and internal listening nonlinear resonance when it splits the hydrogen and oxygen of water, also emits light and the process works in reverse. Quantum biology documents, contrary to quantum physics, an "order from order" amplification into the macro-realm. So contrary to the assumption that quantum entanglement is inherently random and only created from after the fact statistical correlations, the "order from order" amplification is from inherent quantum coherence as Dr. Louis de Broglie modeled, the "Law of Phase Harmony:" The momentum as phase speed is frequency multiplied by wavelength equaling the speed of light squared divided by the group velocity (or particle). In other words, nonwestern music theory was correct, there is a fifth dimension as noncommutative phase-space that is the origin of spacetime and as Professor Paul S. Wesson realized, the 4D spacetime universe exists in a holographic 5D black hole. Wesson:
 a "wavicle" is two simultaneous realizations of flat space, one with waves and one without.

From the viewpoint of 5D field theory, waves of de Broglie type have to be considered real.So in 5D all particles behave like photons and everything in the universe is in causal contact with everything else.

This, admittedly, sounds strange.

Whether one believes in a model like this that straddles physics and spirituality is up to the individual....However it is remarkable that such a model can even be formulated, bridging as it does realms of experience which traditionally have been viewed as immutably separate.
And so because Western science is structurally based on what philosopher of science professor Oliver L. Reiser promoted with Dr. Andrija Puharich as the "music logarithmic spiral" as the secret guiding principle of applied technology, there is an inherent deep disharmony to Western science. In my master's thesis on radical ecology and music theory I argued that since logistic chaos equations model the Tai Chi then chaos and complexity science can usher in sustainability. But then music physicist Charles Madden wanted to publish my master's thesis yet had several unanswered questions. It was then, after studying his research, that I realized my error: In his book on music and fractals he notes that the Tai Chi inherently can't be a fractal since the math is not symmetric. It took me many more years to then research this noncommutative origin of nonwestern music theory and its secret of sustainability.

As this philosophy realizes, the truth of the Universe exists within us holographically as an eternal time-frequency creation of coherent energy-information. Mathematician Alain Connes notes that in fact our brains work as a type of limitation of the original time-frequency spectra, converting that energy-information into this perception of a 4D spacetime projection. Quantum biology realizes this secret but recognizes that no technology can reproduce the complexity of the quantum coherence resonated to a macro-level via our naturally evolved perceptions. It is Western, left-brain dominance that has cut off modern humans from our biological origins in a culture using right-brain dominant natural resonance music theory for maintaining sustainable human culture.

For example music neuroscience now proves that the left-brain perceives time precision and the right brain perceives frequency precision – but this precision is measured by external technology assuming Fourier time-frequency uncertainty as the perceptual trade-off. In fact it is only by doing the actual quantum biology nonwestern trance meditation training do we realize there is macroquantum coherence as nonlinear negentropic energy, what is now called "quantum relative entropy" in quantum computing. This quantum relative entropy originates again from the noncommutative phase-space as inherent quantum entanglement nonlocal reality – the 5th dimension, which our brain, via the magnetic gravity sensor of the pineal gland, transduces back into brain perceptions of the senses. This 5th dimensional information can even be from the future!

As I have mentioned, Taoism is based on this same truth of Pythagorean music theory, that Dr. Victor Grauer references and researches back to the original human culture, which then spread around the world. In the New World for example the "icaros" or chanting shamanic trance songs are called the secret gateway to the "formless" in the Q'ero pre-Incan Andean indigenous communities. My point is that this claim is rooted in the actual empirical truth that is universal and yet has been concealed by Western science. Often people look to music for emotional and spiritual inspiration for sustainability and yet don't realize that Western equal-tempered tuning is in fact inherently unsustainable due to this "deep pre-established disharmony." Intuitively people are drawn to the natural harmonics, for example how the 5:4 music ratio closely approximates the cube root of two, the inspiration for the three dimensional perspective of the Renaissance science. And yet it is the real 5:4 as the natural harmonics that is the blues note of smashing or bending the equal-tempered tuning, into the blues third.

People assume, due to the bias of Western science, that for music to happen, then a string has to be plucked or a tube blown into and therefore a practical scale has to be created. Simon Stevin, for example, acknowledged that 5/4 approximated the cube root of two, the basis for his first mathematical creation of equal-tempered tuning in the late 16th century. Stevin acknowledged that the natural harmonics do not matter since it would take an infinite time to close the geometry into a practical music tuning. Yet real music training relies on real music listening and listening by itself does not require the technical creation of any string or tube-based external instrument.

A surviving fragment of the work of Archytas of Tarentum (ca. 350 BC) states,
"There are three means in music: one is the arithmetic, the second is the geometric, and the third is the subcontrary, which they call harmonic".
The term subcontrary may refer to the fact that a tone based on this mean reverses the order of the two fundamental musical intervals in a scale. It is believed that Archytas or one of his contemporaries gave the name "harmonic"

The original human culture relied on singing and hand clapping and dancing for their spiritual music trance training – along with an inherent model of complementary opposites: male and female principles, that we now realize actually are the noncommutative principles of spacetime. This is the secret science of sustainability – it is not precise but it is accurate. It is simple, yet radical, and a "universal scaling system" as Alain Connes acknowledges. Even babies when born prefer the natural harmonics of the Octave-Perfect Fifth and Perfect Fourth. It is what truly unites humanity and some have considered that other species prefer the natural harmonics as well.

Kepler was against the "closed form" of the Golden Ratio because he realized for the quadratic form to be created then infinity had to be reversed, so that A:B::B:A + B had to be changed to A:B::B:A-B. Instead Kepler, as a Pythagorean, embraced the claim that numbers were "male" and "female" and that geometry was sacred and so transcended form into the formless. His Rosicrucian symbol of an equilateral triangle with circles circumscribing and inscribing the triangle, actually relied on the same claim of the Vedic math, that there is no irrational number, but instead an infinite divide and average process and the geometry is sacred and transcending form. What gets covered up in this truth, is what Samkhya, the oldest philosophy of India acknowledged: The origin of the Universe is from Omkara, based on the Triguna, the Octave, Perfect Fifth and Perfect Fourth, modeling Sattva, raja and tamas principles. Similarly the Pythagorean Tetraktys has this secret of the equilateral triangle as sacred geometry, and the Tai Chi symbol is based on the same music harmonics truth of complementary opposites.
